Community Poem – Book of 2012, Chapter 2

Who am I? I twirl. I dance. I spin. Who am I?

High and low, centered and on the side. I try.

I justify the dry eye, please the mind, and hide the lie.

In a world where truth is told by liars – deceivers, pretenders, pacifiers.

Babies are silenced, the children play, the adults lead astray.

Sanity is the new madness, injustice the new norm.

All animals are equal; some animals are more equal than others.

The joker our hero; screams our new art form.

The joker is dead, get over it, so how you doing?

Much better than the joker definitely, but much less cheerful

Always hiding behind fake smiles.

Impressions, smoke mirrors, gypsy caravans and magic capes

He never gets the joke but laughs oh so loudly.

Her condescension slips through her smiles, as she struts around proudly.

Look at me. Look at me. I wonder if anyone can really see me.

You keep yelling “ignore me”. Who are you?

No one. A myth. A ghost. A mere figment of imagination.

Shadows lurk. Nameless figures but what matters the most?

The emptiness fills everything, my heart takes a boat.

What a world, what a world. I’m hanging up the noose now, waiting for the end.

I don’t want to wait in vain.

  1. Well, as it turned out, I am still in Sudan…
…and I made it to the event (NWN chapter 6).
…and I finally plucked up the courage to read some of my work.
It was fun. Thanks for the event tonight!
I wish you all the success for the next few.
I will definitely be out of the country for them!
    Well… insha ‘Allah!

    🙂
