It’s been a year
Of words forming from the depth of the two Niles
Flowing to merge into a poem.
A poem of tribes originating from East, North and West
A poem of identities stamped in foreign land
That are here, in this space, as one Nile.
To Sara Elhassan, whose creativity is like a cool breeze under Sudan’s hot sun…come to think of it, it may be why شجرته عاملة كده
To Maabad the temple, whose roar of words make ancient temples shake, but not fall.
To Sara Sinada, who does not allow a black brick cement itself in the colours we created and still mix.
To Sadig “this life” Mukhayer, who is a reminder that laughter works with seriousness too.
To Ahmed Tariq, who shared his very first poem after a year of instilling everyone else’s moments to memory with his lens.
To the architect Izzo, the activist Ahmad Mahmoud, who packed everything but left us with their hearts.
To Nas With Notepads, to our one-year long poem, congratulations!
