The Death of a Dream
I am life
I am the tomorrow that’s not guaranteed yet worked for
I am you
And you are I,
And we are one, we are the shared pain,
We are the consequences of our actions,
We are the result of continuous battles between the self
We are warriors
We are warriors in a battle field
A battlefield composed of troops that are built to wipe us at a simple thought, a thought for change..
We live in a trail of never ending sorrows that might hopefully lead ever ending laughter.
But..we all know that’s a lie,
There no such thing as continuous laughter,
Just continuous misery..
When will these damned flowers bloom
And when will this gloom be over?
When will you get on your feet and start running towards that dream…
My dream is to be on stage and play music,
But according to the system, “albit alkwaysa ma bital3ab mazeeka”
“Albit alkwaysa bitasma3 alkalam”
“Albit alkwaysa this, albit alkwaysa that”
Do we look like products to you?
Products that you can amend to whatever image you have in mind?
What is the problem?
The problem is..
This mindless society consists of constitutions mainly built to criticize any sort of evolution that evolve from a simple ‘ I want to do what I love’
But, Why can’t we all do what we love?
Without living up to the expectations of this brutal society.
I’m sure you have a dream
Or you had a dream..
Where maybe all you saw was green and blue
You had a clue of how you wanted this place to be.
A place with opportunities enough to satisfy all needs.
A place where you and I could be equal
A place where my sister isn’t judged upon her figure 8
And it’s never too late to find love.
see, It’s almost close to impossible for a male musician to get married to a female doctor,
Regardless of the love that resides between them,
For in time it shall perish, since such love can not exsists because according to the system….
But, Is it because they killed your dream,
You feel the need to kill ours?
Is it because they told you, you couldn’t,
You think it’s okay to tell us we can’t?
You are are destroying our youth
Our hopes and aspirations,
Might aswell take our lives,
For I personally would rather die than to be part of this annihilating system.
Did you know that the most expensive place on this planet is.. the graveyard.
Well The graveyard is said to be the richest place on earth, because it is there that you will find not only dead people but all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled,
The books that were never written
The songs that were never sung,
The inventions that were never shared,
The cures that were never discovered,
All because someone was too afraid to take that first step,
Because a few voices told it, it couldn’t take place in the system.
Tell me why?
Give me a valid reason for why we let our dreams die,
Based on a lie that sounds something like
“Youre better than this” or “This is not the thing for you”
(And I bet most of you are thinking the same while remembering that list you made minutes ago?, do these phrases sound familiar to you?)
“You must become a doctor,an engineer a business woman or man and have a lucrative career .”
How would you know goddamit?
How could you know?
What if I didn’t want the money,
What if being a doctor makes me sick to my stomach. But what if you gave me a helping hand, a motive or a simple thought?
And what if…
I’m good, for in this world you get what you are,
What you worked hard for
Not what you’re supposed to be.
Because At the very end it’ll be you,
you’ll be in peace,
Because you would have withered the storm of eternal destruction.
No matter what it is,
Don’t let nobody tell you,
Because you can, you know why,
Because it is yours
You dream of it,
You think of it,
You love it,
And you definitely want it,
Because if you do let them,
Your dreams will end up 7 feet underground,
Piled up and Covered in soil and dirt.
And you, no where to be found,
You would have wished you never listened to any voice but your own.
You would have wished you went out there and died trying to hit that goal,
Because it’s worth it,
It’s what you’re passionate about,
You will not fail,
You will not regret it,
You’ll have that feel..
What do they call it?
You name it.
You’ll feel it.
Don’t let the discouraging words linger within you
Don’t let phrases such as ‘You can’t’ get to you.
It is your world…. plus a little bit of ‘mujamalat’ and you have the means to be happy.
All you have to do is take a leap of faith and Let your dreams live.
Do not kill them.
